Jonathan RussinRussin, Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti regrets to inform of the passing of its founding partner, Dr. Jonathan Russin, on December 31, 2022, in Washington, DC., at the age of 85.

Dr. Jonathan Russin founded the firm originally called ‘Kirkwood, Kaplan, Russin & Vecchi’ in 1969 with his partners Charles Kirkwood, Julius Kaplan, and Sesto Vecchi, with the first offices in Bangkok, Thailand; Washington, DC; Santo Domingo, D.R.; and Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam.

Jonathan Russin was a true legal visionary. After founding the Santo Domingo office, he decides to explore new horizons and moves to Spain to open an office in Madrid.

His passion for the transnational practice of law always led him to seek new challenges. With the fall of the Berlin Wall  he saw an opportunity in reconnecting with his Orthodox ancestry and in 1991 he opened an office in Moscow, later opening two more offices in Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

But above all, Jonathan was a lawyer of impeccable ethics, respectful of his word and with a firm commitment to excellence in always pursuing the best interests for his clients. All of us at Russin, Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti are proud to continue his professional legacy. (Learn more about Jonathan Russin here).

In this time of sorrow for our firm we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Antoinette “Toni”, his four children, Alex, Andrew, Ben and Jake, and other family members.
