Luis Lucas Rodríguez, Of Counsel to the Cuban Desk, brings a distinguished career advising clients from multiple jurisdictions in areas such as international trade, foreign investment, corporate and maritime law, aviation, and finance. His expertise spans judicial, arbitral, and ad hoc mediation proceedings, making him a key strategic advisor for businesses entering the Cuban market.
Mr. Rodríguez holds a Law degree from the University of Havana and has pursued extensive postgraduate studies across Europe and the Americas, including:
- Legal Traineeship at Richards Butler International Law Firm (now part of Reed Smith) in London
- Maritime, Commercial, and Port Law studies in Rostock, Germany
- International Finance and Accounting in Havana
- Commercial Mediation certifications from the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada
- Additional training in ISO 9000 auditing, maritime security (ISPS Code), and journalism
He is also a published author and editorial board member for international maritime publications, contributing regularly to The International Comparative Shipping Guide and serving on the board of Mar Y Pesca magazine (Miami, USA).
